Visual Satisfaction
I am a life long artist. I was born in Germany and in 1972, my family and I migrated to America. We settled in my fathers' hometown of Winston-Salem, NC.
Starting at the age of 10, I went back to Germany for visits with my Grandfather in the summer, where he gave me my first art lessons. At 13, I had the privilege of visiting Paris where I perused the halls of the Louvre and Pompidou.
I finished high school at NC School of the Arts and received a BFA from Parsons School of Design. I have been pursuing a life in art ever since.
I use a computer and my camera to create my art. For my Colorful Creations I start with a photograph. Most of the images I have taken myself but sometimes I create a collage from photographs on the internet.
For commissioned work, I use photos provided by my clients. I print my work on different surfaces including clothing and products.
I don't have enough space to tell you about everything that inspires me. I suppose, like most, it depends on the day. I do know that I am very connected to organic shapes and lines. I love bright colors although you would be hard pressed to find much in my wardrobe. And, you might find a pattern or two that I like in some of my artwork.
Artistically I am inspired by Peter Max, Escher, Warhol, Dali, Van Gogh, Lichtenstein, and countless others.
I have rarely come across an artist that didn't have some inspiration for me, even if it was just their dogged determination and bravery for putting it all out there.
What are the art styles that inspire me?
The Psychedelic 60s, (obviously) Pop Art, Fantasy Art, and Surrealism. I am also partial to expressionism and I am in love with the old masters. Not because my work is like theirs but because they were the artists that lay the foundation for art today. They taught us how to see.
I have one goal and that is to share my art with the world. How that takes shape is still and probably will always be a work in progress. But I know it will always be moving forward.
